Hearing aid technology has been developed to include protective features which prevent the device being damaged through everyday wear and tear. Unfortunately, there are still a number of ways in which an aid can break down, become faulty or suffer physical damage. These include:
- Damaged tubing
- Earmould blockages
- Open battery compartment
- Dirty or corroded battery contacts
- Clogged sound outlet
- Blocked microphone opening
- Broken faceplate
There are several symptoms of faults and breakages, including but not limited to:
- A howling or whistling sound
- A distorted or ‘fuzzy’ sound
- No sound
- Volume doesn’t stay fixed
- Earmoulds fall out
- Sound is weak, esp. during phone calls
At Harmony Hearing & Audiology, we have staff who are extensively trained in hearing aid repairs. In many cases, same-day repairs are possible (though not guaranteed). Depending on what needs to be fixed, we can do it onsite- alternatively, we can post your hearing aid back to you as soon as possible. If you are an existing client at Harmony, repairs may be included in your current service; if not, we offer repair services at affordable rates.
Please note that hearing aids which are under warranty may need to be returned to the manufacturer for repair. We work with leading brands, including Phonak, Oticon, Starkey, GN Resound, Siemens, Unitron, Widex and Lyric, and can return your device on your behalf.
